生‧動|Life in Motion 

第二屆關渡國際動畫節,延續上屆主題式策展的形式,用動畫藝術之精髓為靈感來源,策展人 Sharon Wu 特別以「生‧動」(Life in Motion)為題來作為今年策展的核心概念;取其「生命與動態」、「生氣盎然」以及「動畫乃動態虛擬出的生命」之含義,來闡述製作動畫藝術的過程和創作結晶。我們的工作團隊將會秉持著最大的真誠,以平易近人的策展風格,將深奧的動畫藝術,用親切的娛樂形式,呈獻給所有的觀眾朋友。

今年動畫節以泰國長片 Kantana 影業公司 2012 年最新電腦動畫鉅片《小鬼救地球》(Echo Planet)作為開幕,是該片在泰國之外地區的世界首映,導演 Kompin Kemgumnird 曾任迪士尼與 Blue Sky 公司的動畫師,參與過「泰山」、「冰河歷險記」等電影,並執導泰國第一部電腦動畫長片「大象將軍」。

閉幕片則是早年以《小蝌蚪找媽媽》享譽全球的上海美術電影製片廠和上海肯米特唐華聯合出品的動畫長片《猶太女孩在上海》,曾獲2010年常州國際動漫藝術節的「金卡通最佳中國動畫電影獎」。

ASIAGRAPH亞洲藝術大展CG作品發表會及專題講座

播映完整版的 2012 年度 ASIAGRAPH 優選作品,其中包括來自日本、中國、韓國、台灣、新加坡及香港等多個國家優秀的數位藝術與電腦動畫作品;這次的作品發表會,乃與日本同步,為世界首映;關渡動畫節並邀請到 ASIAGRAPH 的官方代表,同時也是日本寶塚大學多媒體學院院長 ── 川村順一教授,來為觀眾做影片作品的導讀,並進行專題講座,和臺灣動畫創作者、學生及觀眾們作深入的交流。

動畫長片

動畫節的另一部長片,是法國大導演盧貝松監製、Bibo Bergeron 執導的電腦動畫電影,根據法國著名童書故事改編的《巴黎魅影》(A Monster in Paris),由法國性感女星凡妮莎帕哈迪主演並主唱電影主題曲《La Saine》;被法國電影專刊報導為年度必看之動畫長片。

國際專題講座

動畫節邀請到多位貴賓來現場進行講座,其中包括: 泰國知名動畫導演 Kompin Kemgumnird 分享他個人創作與製作經驗;最近進駐高雄的美國電影數位視覺特效大廠 Rhythm and Hues Studios,也將為關渡動畫節的觀眾介紹電影數位特效製作過程,並做作品觀摩;國內動畫產業專題部分,邀請到兔將影業放映其最新作品,並分享製作經驗;金馬獎得主史明輝導演的電腦動畫新作《寂寞碼頭》將在 KdIAF 作世界首映,此外,國內知名獨立動漫藝術家王登鈺、動畫教育界學者石昌杰、動畫策展人 Sharon Wu 等也都會分別進行專題講座,作經驗交流。

國際動畫學校觀摩

今年將介紹美國名校南加大的動畫與數位藝術系(The John C. Hench Division of Animation and Digital Arts,University of Southern California);USC 是國際知名高級學府,其動畫系創立於 1995 年,以電腦動畫起始,其基本哲學鼓勵創新和實驗,強調想像力、創造力、和批判性思維。Christine Panushka 教授將介紹該校多年來的學生優秀作品,並另做一場她個人動畫作品的發表會,談女性觀點的動畫創作。


世界動畫短片精選

動畫影片精選部分,今年度也將以三個不同子題《動態‧時間》(Motion in Timing)、《活動‧空間  》(Motion in Dimension)、《動機‧人間》(Motion in Mankind)來編列,精選來自世界各地的近四十部動畫影片,有傳統手繪、停格(偶)動畫、真人動畫、三維電腦動畫、Motion Graphic……等各種動畫技術的成品,呈現多種不同媒材、動畫技術和視覺風格的諸多面貌。

國際動畫工作坊

除了有國際大師親自指導的初級工作坊與進階工作坊,還有特別為國小兒童設計的動畫動手做的活動。

創藝市集

再度邀請到美國的 Animator Made 公司,特別精心挑選近百本由歐美動畫藝術家獨立出版的繪本、畫冊與其它作品,將在 2012 關渡國際動畫節活動期間展售。

Life in Motion

The second annual Kuandu International Animation Festival (2012 KDIAF) is themed Life in Motion. The core concept for this year’s theme is inspired by the essence in the art of animation. It reflects the notions of dynamism between life and motion, abundant liveliness, and animation as a figment of life visualized through motion. It is also to illustrate the creative process of animation making.

With our utmost sincerity, curator Sharon Wu and the KDIAF team present to our audience the profound art of animation in an approachable curatorial environment and through a personal level of entertainment.Opening Film:     Echo Planet    10/21 Sun 1400

Closing Film:  Jeune fille juive àShanghai 10/28  Fri  15:302012 KDIAF will open with director Kompin Kemgumnird’s new CG animated epic, Echo Planet, produced by Kantana Studios, Thailand, which premiered in August 2012. This is the world premiere of Echo Planet outside of Thailand. After working on Tarzan for Disney Feature Animation and Ice Age for Blue Sky Studios, Kompin Kemgumnird went on to direct Thailand’s  first CG animated feature film, Khan Kluay, which topped the box office chart and  was critically acclaimed by international film critics.

Our closing film is Jeune fille juive à Shanghai, produced by Shanghai Film Group Corporation and Shanghai Animation Film Studio, the studio who produced internationally renowned animation such as Little Tadpoles Looking for Their MammaJeune fille juive à Shanghaireceived the Golden Cartoon Award for Best Chinese Film in the 2010 Changzhou International Animation and Digital Arts Festivalamong other honors.ASIAGRAPH 2012 CG Art Gallery

KDIAF is honored to premier, in cooperation with Japan, the CG Art Gallery of ASIAGRAPH 2012. This special screening comprises this year’s selected works of digital arts and computer animation fromJapan, China, South Korea, Taiwan, Singapore, Hong Kong among others. Professor Junichi Kawamura, the dean of Takarazuka University’s Media Content department in Japan and the official representative from ASIAGRAPH, will be at KDIAFto guide viewers through video works and conduct a seminar featuring in-depth discussions with professionals, students, and audience in Taiwan.

Animated Feature Film

A Monster in Paris (French: Un monstre à Paris) is a French CGI and 3D animated featureproduced by French directorLuc Bessonanddirected by Bibo Bergeron. The film is a critically successful filmin France and internationally.

 

Animation Seminars

Several seminars will take place during KDIAF which are being hosted by our international guests:

Kompin Kemgumnird, director of our Opening film, Echo Planet, will offer his creative and production experiences;

The White Rabbit Entertainment, Inc., a Taiwanese CG and 3D production company, will share insights on their experiences ;

The noted Hollywood visual effects house, Rhythm and Hues Studios, will host a special presentation on the production process of cinematic digital visual effects;

USC professor and independent filmmaker Christine Panushka will be on hand for a separate presentation of her personal films, which reflect an insight into the woman’s perspective;

the Gold Horse winner, Jack Shih will premier his new directorial work, The Solitary Pier, an 18-minute CG animated film;

Other guests include Taiwanese independent animation artist, Den-Yu “Fish” Wang, animation scholar, Prof. Jay C. Shih, and animation curator, Sharon Wu who will participate in forums, seminars, and workshops, respectively, and share their creative experiences.

Featured International Animation Institutes

This year, we are featuring theJohn C. Hench Division of Animation and Digital Arts, University of Southern California(USC) from the United States. USC is an internationally renowned educational institution that established its animation department in 1995, with a fundamental philosophy that strongly encourages experimentation, and emphasizes imagination, creativity and critical thinking.Professor Christine Panushka will present their selected student works.

International Showcase of Animated Shorts

Our showcase includes nearly forty short films from around the world comprised into three programs, each reflectinga theme related to this year’s core concept, Life in Motion, and representingthe three main elements in storytelling: Time, Space and Character. These three programs are titled Motion in TimingMotion in Dimension, and Motion in Mankind respectively. Featuring traditional hand-drawn animation, stop-motion, computer animation, Pixilation, motion graphics, and other animation techniques, the showcase comprises a variety of media, animation techniques, and visual styles.

Animation Workshop

In addition to entry-level through advanced workshops personally instructed by our international professional guests, there will also be a hands-on animation activity specially designed for children.

Creative Market

Once again, Animator Made Int’l from the U.S. will exhibit approximately 100 graphic novels, art books, sketchbooks and other works independently published by European and American animation artists at the Creative Market on October 13 and 14.
